    Hey,

So i just upgraded motherboards from the Asus Commando. To the Asus P5N-D with SLI. Windows Vista 32bit installed properly and i was able to boot into it. But after a while i started to get a blue screen with this:

    0x000000d1 (0x477c1fb6, 0x00000005, 0x00000008e, 0x477c1fb6)

I looked around and i cant find anything on this problem. I have updates the bios to the latest one and still get random blue screen. I think it might be a memory problem that isnt compatible to the motherboard.

    My specs are:

    core 2 duo 6400
    3gb of OCZ 800Mhz
    Asus P5N-D
    Galaxy 8800GT
    200gb Maxtor SATA drive
    500w PSU

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks.

Okay they look like "hexidecimal reference errors", I could be wrong but that is what they look like to me. Basically RAM transcription (reading or writing) errors.

Time for some Memtesting use either:

http://hcidesign.com/memtest/ (for within a Windows environment but you will have to run several instants like this example)

You can see I had to run 4 instants to fully test all 4Gb to ensure almost all of the physical memory was being tested.

The other option is to run "Memtest86 3.4a" pre-OS (before OS)....copy to a floppy or USB and start testing (arguably the better option in your case):

    Hey.

I no longer get the blue screen. I download some chipset drivers. But now i am getting random computer lockups. Like i will be surfing the net or opening a program and it will freeze and i have to reboot the computer. The lockups are completly random. I loaded Crysis and i put everything to max setting and it didnt freeze.

Could this still be a memory issue??

I looked on the Asus website and my OCZ memory isnt one of the qualified vendors on the list for 800Mhz RAM.
