So I purchased this new motherboard / CPU combo yesterday. I finally installed XP on it. The internet connection is soooo slow. I mean googles main page takes about 30 seconds to load. So forget about Windows Updates. I tried all the drivers on the motherboard cd for the onboard NIC, but only one works, and its slow. I was using this same connection on thursday and it was working fine. Here are the specs:

    Motherboard: Gigabyte 945GZM-S2
    NIC: Realtek RTL8169/8110
    Driver: 5.663.1212.2006

Thanks in advance for any help

    I have cable @ around 5 megs.

I have a router which I tried to bypass by connected the modem directly to my computer. The driver for my internet? confused I didn't know there was one driver for the entire internet. I do have the latest drivers for the onboard NIC. I have a PCI NIC that I am going to try and install. And its not the ISP b/c my laptop works normally on the same wireless network.
