New Mozilla destroying my relationship

So I foolishly loaded up new Mozilla Firefox. Now, instead of having the drop-down history in the URL bar only collecting domain names I type in (ie, sites opened direct from other sites are not recorded), whnever anything is typed into the URL bar, pretty much any site I've ever viewed will be 'helpfully' popped up.

Mozilla suggest 'highlight the link and press the delete key' to remove them, but they come right back. My gal can't type in the 'e' for ebay or the 'y' for yahoo without all manner of my smuttiness being evident, and seemingly irremovable.

I downloaded Opera intending to uninstall Firefox, but it does the same.

I have deleted history, cookies etc in Internet Options, but this only seems to have affected Explorer.

Any advice on controlling Firefox's autocomplete habits (the drop-down menu is incidentally now almost useless of two-mouse-click navigation to my favourite sites), or better still reverting to the old version, would be appreciated.

Fixed after I found a thread on this... many thanks and sorry for repeating the question.
