We just set up a home network in hopes of sharing a printer. We dont really want to share anything else. What I am wondering,...do we have to change any settings to make it where none of the other family members can access information on our computers. We each have our own computer, and ONLY want to share the printer.

    Thanks

A good resource is http://ezlan.net As for others accessing files, unless password protected, or encrypted, all one has to do is browse through Networking to your computer and use /c$ to access your drive.

another problem I seem to be having...as I am SUPER DUPER NEW to networking.

My printer is a lexmark 1200 series all in one printer/scanner, and I dont know how to make it where I can scan from computers other than the one the printer is attached to. Is that possible? the Printer works that way...but I dont know how to make the scanner work that way. W

When I try installing the lexmark software on the other computers I check the option about it being attached via a network, then it asks for the other computer name and printer name. When I put that in it always says it is wrong.

    Any help??
