Oh, I am sad, my speakers are dying.
I thought that since the hisses and pops were beginning to drown out the music, I would give them the heave ho. So I have two questions.

First--should i just give up on them, or is there something i can do to save them.

and Second--can anyone help me figure out how to turn on the speakers that are built into my monitor? I haven't ever used them, and for the life of me can't figure out how to make noise come out of them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

There should be a small plug at the end of the monitor cord, (were the monitor plugs into the computer) Unplug the old speakers and in the same hole plug in the plug on the monitor cord. Hope that helps Chuck

The only fix that I can think of isn't really a fix, is just simply turning down the volume, or turning off the bass boost. Other than that you could send them to a pro to have them fixed but you'd probably be better off replacing them. I had a pair of speakers I blew out once, I taped the cones to the edges of the cabinet where the foam had broken off of, lmao .. ghetto i know but it worked. :)

I've tried fiddling with the voume the cord, and the settings, and that has helped in the past, but i think that the time is up for the speakers. I should really just give up on them anyway. They were cheap ones that came with the thing, and shouldn't cost much to replace.
As for the monitor, it doesn't have a cord to plug in to the speaker port, it just has a port itself.

So, i guess my options are either buy new speakers, or buy a cord and hope that works.

    Thanks for the help.

Your best bet is to buy a new set of speakers, That way you know they will work. Chuck. I got a set you can have

The cord you need has a male headphone jack on each end you simply plug one into your soundcard and one into your monitor

EEEEEEE.The jack on the monitor might be a headphone jack itself too. Post the brand and model of the monitor. Maybe we can find you more info on it.
