I recently downgraded my OS from XP to 2000 on one of my PCs. Now I am unable to get on the internet. I went and downloaded all the necessary drivers for my PC from

I posted an everast log....Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks

The link you posted above doesn't work :confused Not a big deal.... Did you use the drivers at this link for the ethernet? I'm assuming you're using hi-speed DSL/broadband internet. If you check the Device Manager and all your drivers are installed correctly you'll have no question marks ? or exclamation points ! showing. You'd then go to the Control Panel, select Internet Options, click the Connections tab, click the Setup button, then follow the screenshots in this guide. The 1st screenshot is what you should see, skip the first step that's listed right above the 1st screenshot, start with step 2. I usually uncheck the proxy server box in step 6, but this is up to you. You will connect faster if this box is unchecked, but if you require a proxy server to get online, then leave the box checked.
    :-D

(if you have any troubles, or this doesn't work, or you don't have all the drivers installed, or have a question, feel free to post! ;) )

EDIT- I figured I'd provide a link to your drivers since the one you posted above is DOA LOL

This is the driver I downloaded for the internet. I'm assuming it's the right one. If not please advise. Everything seems to be fine under my device manager and my Intel ethernet driver is enabled. Things never seem to work right with Windows 2000, atleast for me anyways. I will try what you have told me to do and get back. Thanks

Yeah, those are the right drivers. If the device manager is clean, then you should be able to get online by following the steps in the guide I linked to above. If it doesn't work, let us know and we'll try to get it sorted out for you.
    :-D

Off the top of your head do you know of anything else it could be? I'm not by the problem PC right now, but I've tried these steps a few times already to no avail. I will try again, but I have a feeling it may be something else.

That didn't work. Not sure if this means anythng, but when I go to my control panel and click on the icon for my network adapter (intel(R) PROset adapter) and under network status theres a green light by Link speed-- 100Mbps and a yellow flashing light next to Activity and it says Duplex full.

The flashing lights are OK. Who is your internet provider? I know that EarthLink requires specific settings, as does SBC/ATT/Yahoo depending on the part of the US you're in. I think Comcast may require special settings too. Even if one of these ISPs is not your provider, you may want to call your provider anyway and they should be able to help. But in the meantime, click Start > Run, type cmd and press Enter. You'll get a command prompt window (it looks like a DOS window from days of old). Type ipconfig and press Enter, and post what the results are. Also, are you using Norton/McAfee for antivirus? Do you have a firewall?

My provider is Time Warner Cable (Road Runner). I have no Anti-Virus and the only firewall I would have would be windows firewall. Since re-installing my OS I haven't done anything to the PC except install drivers. I have 2 PCs that I'm using, the problem PC and an operable PC. The good PC connects just fine and all I'm doing is unplugging the ethernet cable from one PC and plugging it into the other. It doesn't make sense why I can't connect. I'll post the CMD thing later. Thanks for the help.

I'm at a bit of a loss :confused You said in your first post that you "downgraded" your Windows from XP to 2000. Did you do a clean install with a format of the hard drive? Did you do anything before installing the drivers and trying to get online? Were you able to get online with XP? Are you using a router or going straight to the modem? Have you tried a different PC on the same cable/connection? Depending on your answers to these questions, I'm leaning towards this being a hardware problem, but it's hard to say without being in the same room with the PC and internet connection. So, please answer these questions and we'll try to get this working for you! ;)

Yes , I downgraded from XP to 2000. I did a full install whiping everything out. Hard drive wasn't replaced during this process if that's what you mean. Everything worked under XP. The first thing I did after the OS downgrade was put the drivers on. That's the only thing I've done on that PC besides scan with Everast. I'm connecting sraight to the modem. I have 2 PCs standing right next to each other....one PC connects the other doesn't. All I'm doing is simply removing the ethernet cable from one PC and plugging into the other.

    Thanks again
