    Hey yall!

Im kind of a rookie regarding this stuff, ive flashed some tablets, unbricked a phone and installed various OS's over the years, but i think much of my success has been random :S
So, my question is, can anyone recommend a OS for my old laptop, one that can do stuff like, writing, watching images, searching the web (prefferably run TOR) but still will take minimum strain on my hardware?
You can either answer me here.

    Regards

You need to show us the spec of the old laptop, but
Many old Xp will run W7, Many old Vista will run W7, 8.1, even W10
Graphics chip will decide which will run best
Most laptops seem to be able to run a Linux system
Version Limit on X86 Limit on X64
    Windows 7 Professional 4 GB 192 GB
Windows 7 Home Premium 4 GB 16 GB
Windows 7 Home Basic 4 GB 8 GB
    Windows 7 Starter 2 GB N/A
So- I have found W7 x86 will run on 1gb ram, but not very well
If the old laptop can take 2gb , or, more ram, then it will only depend on the graphics chip as to how well it will, or, will not, run anything from W7 , upwards

But if th computer is slow, (ill post the speccs when i get home) like really slow, and i dont need alot of fuzz, i just need a fast computer, what would be the best choice ? ;)

Depends on your laptop spec...........Otherwise we might be offering a big harpoon to a rowing boat:eek:
W7 is usually good bet to try,but as support is now limited by Microsoft, then W8.1, or, 10 ..........

True, but what about some Linux based OS, like lubuntu, ubuntu, or other lightweight ones ?

    Whats your hardware?

    Use Speccy 1.32.740

Kali Linux is debian based and rocks on minimal resources!
This link will give you a 'shasum' on the original fork.

Also if you are used to Windows format then I suggest Linux Mint as its quite the same layout and easy transition to Linux Mint and quite light. Here is a video of it
