    Hello everyone,

My current PC is upgraded as much as it can realistically be, and unfortunately, it's a wreck. For the past year I have suffered from the dreaded nv4_disp.dll issues that plague PC users who use nVidia cards and nForce chipset motherboards, and it is now driving me around the twist.

    My current specs are:

    AMD Athlon 64-bit 3700+ 2.2gHz
    2GB DDR1 400mHz Kingston RAM
    nVidia GeForce 7600GT AGP
    GIGABYTE GA-K8NSC-939 Mobo
    600W PSU
    Antec-900 Case

    --------

I am looking for something that will last me for some years to come, but is not overly excessive in price - Probably £500-£1,100 given that all I need really is a:

    CPU
    Mobo
    GFX Card
    RAM

I was thinking Dual Core (E660 still good, or whatever they were called?), 8800GTX PCI-E, 3x DDR2 RAM, and a decent mobo to boot, I also need new HDD's, as my 2x 80gb currently don't cut it. I've got the case, speakers, monitor, mouse and keyboard I need, I imagine I don't need anything else in there?

Using the website www.scan.co.uk, or other like-priced alternatives, could somebody concoct me a compatable PC using those specifications? My reasoning for SCAN, is it's pretty damned cheap, and is a local firm to me; I can actually pick up the components myself.

Any and all help appreciated. If you feel what I am looking for is in anyway wrong, or not what is best for me, then by all means please set me straight - It might be my money, but afterall I am asking everyone here for their input and help, and it is very much welcome.

Just to give you all an idea, games I currently play are Battlefield 2 : Project Reality modification, Company of Heroes : Opposing Fronts, Medieval II: Total War - Kingdoms. These games, I play low-med to med graphics, but given their age, I'd like to be able to see them in their splendor, and also prepare for next-gen games using DX10

As far as that .dll error you mention, I haven't ever got it. Here is what I'm using.

    ASUS M2N SLI 560 MotherBoard
    AM2 XP6400 CPU 3.2 GHz
    2 x 1Gb (2GB total) PC6400 Kingston ram
    XFX 9600 xxx Video Card
    Samsung 250 GB Hard drive
    750 watt Power supply

after install it came out running 3.5 GHz, and this is not overclocked

Not sure of pound conversion, but cost me just under $500 US
