My 8 year old HP is limping along. I think it's time to upgrade. Would I be better off with an AMD A6-3600, A8-3800 or Intel i3-2100?
General use, music, photos some video creating and editing, and some light gaming.
    I've found 3 sytems with 23" monitors around $700.00.

    HP / AMD A6-3600 / 8gb ram / 1tb hd
    HP / AMD A8-3800 / 8gb ram / 1tb hd
    Dell / Intel i3-2100 / 6gb ram / 1tb hd

    Any opinions?

I'm not a big fan of HP anymore - way too much crapware and low quality parts.

If you're buying an OEM unit, look at the Dell Vostro series. This is Dell's Business Class line - usually better grade parts, little (if any) preinstalled crapware and a better warranty with on-site next business day service and a tech support staff that speaks English as a primary language.

If going this route, do not buy the memory and drive "upgrades" from Dell. $200 for an extra 4GB of DDR3? You can buy an extra 4GB on NewEgg for under $40!

Bottom line: Processor power is useless if it's packaged in a crappy PC.

    Hope this helps. :)
