New PC but which processor?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at buying a new PC and I will use it mainly for gaming so which processor should I be looking for. I currently use a 2.8ghz Intel 4 but should I still stick with this or are there any alternatives out there.

Also, can anyone recommend websites that sell cheap new/used PC with high end spec. My budget is £450.

I would get an Intel Core Duo or Quad core CPU. If you get the Quad, get one OEM and get good aftermarket cooling. (Thermalright True 120 works great.)
