New PC can't connect to dialup

    Trying to setup my friends new pc and he uses peoplepc dialup service.I can not get it to conect,it show the modem is working but i can not get a dial sound when i try and get a error 777 that say can not connect to remote computer.I can connect using my dsl connection.Any help would be great.thanks

    If you have a software firewall on the PC, disable it for now and try dialing up again.

    Also if the PC has any other ISP software on it, remove/uninstall them as they can conflict with a new ISPs software.

    also uninstall the Modems Drivers and re-install as error 777 on a DUN Modem links to hardware/driver fault, also check its installed correctly if a PCI modem, pull it out and push back again.

    Check Device Manager for any yellow ! marks.


    Also and I just guessing here as I dont know US ISPs and DialUP too well, but its possible if the PC is in your home as your saying it works on your DSL, that your phone number is not allocated to the account, UK ISPs dialup links the phone number to the internet account, so it wont work in someone elses house and phoneline.. just a thought.

    Halo,Just wanted to thank you for your help,I removed the modem and reinstalled the driver and it works great.Thanks and have a great holiday.
