I have had my Hp for 5 years this month, NO issues ever! But I would like Windows 7 and something a little more high tech. I want an HP(and no u can't talk me out of it) I have always had them and they have always been good...at least for me. I did notice that newer pc's seem to be very stingy with the BACK PORTS. Has an IEEEEEEEE port been replaced with another name??? also I have a HP laserjet, that I WILL NEVER GIVE UP and it needs a parallel port(LOL) can these be adapted?? anyone has some inspiring ideas for a new HP...I do NOT GAME. only business, writing, surfing................thanks!:wave:wave:wave

I think HP use to be ok but now they are crap imo

I wouldn't suggest you get one now.

My HP/Compaq from 2004 i still going strong but my 2007 HP Crapped out in December.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227181 would probably be good for you. Good amount of ram and a Decent video card that gives you all Windows 7 effects without any lag.

    I don't know your budget.

Reason Why I don't' like HP Now is Low quality parts and very limited upgrades without a serious system upgrade like a new motherboard.

    EDIT:

Also the systems are loaded with alot of junk to were you will spend hours uninstalling it all.

I know it says gaming pc but IMO it's really not meant for gaming. Ibuypower is known for gaming pc's

Your printer may work however since it sounds old it probably wont work with Windows 7 due to it's age

actually just went on HP support site and YES(woo hoo!!!!!!!!!) my 6L WILL work with windows 7, I am not the oNLY one who loves the 6L printer, so there were quite a few people asking about a 6L driver for windows 7. I will have to really investigate those Ibuypower PC's, I read PC world, Consumer Reports and another PC magazines, reviews were not very inspiring to go out & buy one....I guess all PC's have there pros & cons....when I bought the HP I have, I had no question...when I bought my Lpatop last year it took forever until I settled on a brand. I guess its just me...being a female(LOL);)

The reason why I like Ibuypower is that they use name-brand retail parts and not cheap generic stuff usually.

I just tried to get an HP laserjet, maybe 6P working on a Win 7. Win 7 has the drivers for the printer but good luck finding a parallel to USB adapter cable for under $45 that is guaranteed to work.

I looked a cables until I was cross-eyed. Some said the cable worked perfectly for others it did not work at all and they had to RMA it.
I had an adapter that would convert to USB and of course the printer cable but both end sections were male. I bought a gender changer to put in between the printer cable and the adapter. The computer popped an error about not being able to use the adapter (Belkin), no drivers for it and no plans for a driver. My friend bought another printer.

If you do find a cable that works, please post the make and model number of the adapter cable. I want feedback from someone who got one to work.
