New PC time - advice needed

Howdy all,

I've about had it with this computer build. first one in about five years that gave me any form of problem, so now it's time for something new.

I'd like to avoid Gigabyte motherboards. they burned me twice this time around. I need at least one PCI-E slot for my TV tuner, one PCI slot, and one PCI x16 slot for my graphics card.

I also think it's time for a new stereo system. This one lasted 8 years, but now it's getting random static for no reason at all, and the volume on it has been having problems.

I mostly use my PC for Graphic editing. Photoshop, Vegas Pro, SoftImage. and others like VideoRedo, etc...so anything optimized to make that faster would be great .

I'd like to keep it in the $1,000 range this time. I almost bit the bullet and bought a cheap $500 dell from best buy, but sanity reeled me back in

My 7 year old machine XP ver 2 32bit 80 gig HD despite being lavished with TLC is starting to show its age, it will be like parting with an old friend.
Now then, I’m not sure if this should be in hardware software or the lounge.
I need some advice as to what sort of rig to go for next.
I like messing about with Photoshop and Corel don’t do gaming I use Office quite a bit, I like things to be quick, but, that’s about it really. Budget about £500
