Hi, I am looking for some help with a computer I have been asked to fix. Its a pc that someone has put together themselves gone to boot it up for the first time and it gets as far as the Starting Windows Page then reboots. I have tried changing various parts Including Hard Drive, DVD drive, Power Supply, all cables have been replaced I have check and double checked that everything is plugged in where it is supposed to be and I am very quickly running out of ideas. The spec for the machine is as follows.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970a DS3 Socket AM3+ ATX motherboard.
Processor: AMD FX6 6100 Black Edition 6 core 3.3ghz Processor.
    RAM: Crucial 8gb 1600mhz DDR3
DVD Player: Samsung SH118AB DVD Player
Graphics Card: EVGA g210 1gb Graphics Card
Power Supply: Coolmaster elite 500w Power supply.
Hard Drive: Toshiba 500GB 7200rpm hard drive.
OS: Windows 7 Home Edition 64 Bit
Network: Tenda 150mbps Wireless PCI Adapter
Case: Casecom 6788 All Black Case.

The only other thing I thought it could be would be a faulty motherboard? Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers

If you boot into the BIOS (not Windows) does the PC still reboot?

i would try a reinstall of windows first. the first sign that its not the computer is that it totally goes past the POST and then moved on to the operating system. i would have to say the windows OS is corrupt somewhere and needs to be deleted and reinstalled! that is my best advice

oh and i have to add. in the reading it says the this is the first boot of the pc. so either they built the computer and pulled the windows hard drive out of their pc hoping it will work in the new one, or this isn't the first time this computer has booted up. if the person is using an old hard drive with an OS installed. it most likely wouldn't work because of the config settings and drivers in the old hard drive OS install itself.

so like i say reinstall OS and see how it works!!!!!

I have tried booting in bios it doesn't reset but it does just crash which forces me to have to hold the power button down. When I said that it boots to the windows loading screen I mean the screen that comes up after the windows is loading files screen when you first install windows. I have currently got the bios to boot firstly from the DVD drive and then from hard drive.
