    Hey Guys,

A good friend gave me a new motherboard with a 3.2GHz P4 Chip, 4 GIGS Ram, and a 120GB SATA HD, Got to love it, replaced my old 2.4 with 512MB ram, etc

He also gave me a PCI EXpress radeon that has a heating issue and cant seem to run 3D games, I haven't installed it, I might see if I can get a RMA on it, and if they replace it I`ll have to upgrade my power supply, never used PCI Express before, this is my first time.

The mainboards a ASRock IATIX-10, works brilliantly, first time using USB2.0, Sad I know, but I just never have the money these days to get some new equipment, seems to be getting spent on medication, doctor consultations, taxi fares, etc etc

Anyway, I just thought I would gloat a bit about my new comp, I feel like a kid in a candy store at the moment.

the video card you sure it's free of dust?

The thermal paste could be old and need to be replaced.

Dunno, But its a whopping great big card, Just fits in the computer, cant use it though as I don't have a LCD display and it takes that white weird connection slot, its a HIS ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2

The mainboard as I just found out is an ASRock 4Core1333 FullHD, Just updated the bios, WOW! Massive difference in performance, got nearly a quater increase, and the chuggin is gone, now the USB2.0 Host controllers are correctly detected, didn't think to find out what rev the bios was before the update, darnit.

    HEHE :D

You need a HDMI to VGA adapter, looks like this adapter, only a couple of dollars at your local shop.;) Many folks have a few in their 'junkbox' when buying cards as they include a pair.

Well if the card physically works, aka 2D, but fails when it comes to 3D, then it surely is a heat issue rather than the card being physically bung, aka damaged?

If I get one of those adaptors, I think the card requires a 4 Square prong power cord like the mainboard uses, I am already using the one that the power supply comes with but their isn't 2.

Hmmm, where to go from here, as far as adaptors go, thanks for that, didn't know you could do that at all, cool thanks.

Hmm, you need 2X6 pin connectors to the board.

Got that from here as I'm not an ATI user but that's a power hungry card. How strong is your power supply? It may or may not mean anything but someone else might get an idea.

    Dammit,

Just bought a $20 buck recharge for my telstra pre-paid wireless broadband, had to borrow it at that, and its nearly all gone, all I`ve done is updated XP after SP3 was installed, and downloaded MSN Live Messenger, which downloaded 68MB of crap, couldn't find an official MSN Messenger standalone full download

I`ve got a 350Watt PSU I think, Its a hand me down unit, this morning I had some problems getting the computer to boot, it turned on but never clicked into gear, thinking it was the PSU I exchanged it Jonas'es 400Watt PSU, but then it wouldn't even power on, then I connected the original back up and it just started working, very very strange to say the least.

Does anyone know where to get a really graphical nice shoot em up game, something like Raiden II, or Zuma, Or Bejewelled 2 Deluxe, I tried that Bejewelled Twist, wasn't too keen on it however, I loved getting the 4 big ones and getting that lightnight ball to blast all the same colored selection away!

I did have a side scrolling Jet game, can't remember what it was called, but it let you do diffirent weapon arrangements and power ups.....

I might grab Warblade again though, now that was kick butt! I absolutely loved it on the good ole AMIGA 500 & Up, when the developer announced he was creating a PC version a fair few years back I didn't believe it, but he did, it works and its brilliant!! http://www.warblade.as/index.asp

Well, run Everest to find your exact model of graphics card, it's a small and free app. Someone will know the card better.;)

I can't actuall put the card in my comp becuase the power supply does not support the extra power connectors it needs, its a HIS Radeon 3870 X2, I found their website at http://www.hisdigital.com/un/product2-33.shtml

Thats the exact model, and box, and card it is, however I don't think its 1GB, I was told it was 512, however their isn't a 512MB Version that looks identicle to the one show their, that picture shows the exact same size, look of the card I got.....

I cannot download anymore, Only got a $3.21 credit left until I get paid next fortnight, then I can buy a $100 recharge with 6GB download, instead of a $20 recharge with a mere 256MB Download. Dammit, I cannot believe windows update chewed into it like it did!

    Stupid Telstra wireless broadband!

OK then, it's actually two times 512MB as that one has two cards in one. Read the manual at your link, you'll see that you need a 550W power supply.

I'm going to bed now. Good luck mate.:)
