Well everything turned back on after my last power failure but I still smell a burning smell in it. Its not near as bad as the other one was. I have monitored all the system temps and everything is o.k.

Is it possible that because of the intense smell before, it left some residual smell in the MOBO?

Might just be little smell from the old.
Sometimes is normal for slight burnt smell on new PSU, especially some of the cheap generic ones.

What brand & model PSU is the new? save the reciept just incase it fries too, ya never know may have ta RMA!

glad to hear its up and running Patrick. I bet you are relieved. My xconnect smelled real bad for a couple of weeks. I was going to rma it but at the time found out that it was a known problem with the ultra's. I had to leave a window open it was so bad but it did clear up. Just keep a eye and nose on it.

Glad to hear that the last PSU didn't kill everything in the case! As far as your new PSU goes, pay close attention to that smell. I think it may be a leftover smell from your last PSU, but if it gets worse, stop what you're doing on the double!

Glad to hear everything is ok!!!!

I also have an Xconnect from ultra, and the first couple of days it put off a smell like when you turn on the heat in the house for the first time of the season!!!! But...I watched my temperature moniter and everything was registering ok, so I rode it out for a couple of days and it went away!!

Thanks guys for the replies. The smell is actually coming out of the cpu fan not PSU. Everything is fine on the temps etc.. have run it for a long time. I think the fan must smell from the last PSU.

The PSU runs cool, not getting hot. The smell was so bad in the last one that it actually smelled the whole house up.lol I think some of it is left in the CPU fan.

Anyways, lets hope this one works out.

I also got the other computer up and running thank god. I ran fdisk and was able to format the drive. Apparently it wasnt formatted even though I used Killdisk.

I need to get another HD though. I hope a 120 gb works on a P3.

    Thanks guys, Later.
