So i have to buy a new PSU 550 watts isnt enough to fully power my system with a 2900XT installed, in some games with graphics maxed my computer reboots itself (not heat problems) i have 175 dollars in my bank account and im looking for a good PSU that will last awhile, my current PSU is Antec and i like Antec but i cant find a PSU they make in my price range. I'm looking for 750+watt PSU might be hard to get with only 175 dollars since i see them around $200 ish. Any suggestions on a good PSU, i dont think i will be doing crossfire but i want a PSU that has at least 1x8pin and 1x6pin PCI-Express connector

Edit: i saw this PSU avaliable: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10006250&prodlist=bizrate but it says SLI not Crossfire, again crossfire isnt a big deal but its not certifed by ATi (http://ati.amd.com/products/certified/powersupplies.html) Does it matter if it is or isnt, my current PSU Antec TrueControl 2.0 is certified..

Sorry just saw that it was nvidia cert. but at that price w/ modular cabling and the 4 6pin pci-e connectors its a pretty good deal. As long as the psu at least meets or exceeds the needed power it will be fine. The only thing that ati xfire cert means is that ATI has tested that particular model. Doesnt mean that it wont work. but I'm sure that others will probably have other suggestions for you. I'm just not comfortable suggesting products that I hav'nt personally used.

Id either go with OCZ or PCP&C

OCZs are cheaper though, and ive never once hear or read anything bad about them. Im running a PowerStream 600W, i love it. And to restate what lanfear said, it doesnt need to be Crossfire certified to run crossfire, it just means that ATI has tested it and they approve it

either of these would work, the 780W has a rebate so its only $150 and the 700W is $100 after rebate. Id go with the 780W, it is also modular

i'd also go with PC Power and cooling. You can buy direct from them. I saved myself $40 dollars from the newegg price. I believe there is even a walkthrough there that you type in your stats and it will make suggestions for you.

http://www.pcpower.com/products/power_supplies/selector/ <----- this link takes you to a selector that will help you find best psu for you. Even if you don't want to buy from PC P&C, it will still give you an idea of what you need.

This one seems to be the onyl one that meets what i need, has an 8pin video card connector 750watts its a single rail, also has an 8pin motherboard connector (which is good for me)

Still whats that advantage over a single raid as opposted to dual rail+ i relize that there are more amps on the wire but is that it?
