    Good Morning,

I think I know the answer to this but thought someone might know otherwise. Two weeks ago I installed a new 500mb stick of ram, so that the computer now has 1gb of ram. All was well till yesterday. I booted the pc and smelled something electrical burning. I shut down pronto and removed the side panel to inspect and try to determine what was wrong. In the process of moving wires around to get a better look, I touched the new ram. It was hot as a pistol. I pulled it out and there was a burn mark on one the contacts. I tried to reboot and nada. I think the mother board is fried but maybe one of has an idea for trouble shooting before I invest in a new motherboard.

    Thanks!

DON'T invest in just a new board!! You'll need to check out each component but many times electrical accidents like that take the whole system. Build an all new system!
