Hello, I was wondering if someone could help point me in the right direction.
Lenovo A730 - Intel i7 processor, 8 GB RAM, Win 8.1 - all updates in place. 1TB HDD 5,400 rpm.

The computer is very slow to boot off the HDD - so thought we'd try a SSD. Purchased a Samsung 250 Gb 850EVO mSata SSD (there is an open slot on the mother board for it).

Installed SSD, ran the Samsung data migration software. The SSD is recognized in file explorer and disk manager as drive G:

Changed boot order in BIOS to boot from SSD first. The computer boots and goes to windows desktop, but it seems to be switching from the SSD to the HDD and hunting for file location.

Shut computer down - and unplugged HDD. Tried booting off of SSD that way - goes through to password for OS, then says "preparing windows" after a bit it fails with two scripts from lenovo it can't find.

Any ideas of what I did wrong? I'd rather not do a clean install on ssd - maybe an image would work?

So have you disconnected the old hard drive and have you changed the setting in the BIOS?
