Im part way through aquiring pieces for a new system and was looking for reccomendations on a couple of components.

Im going to use this for an all purpose somputer as well as some games like HL2 and Counter Strike.

    What I have so far:

    New
Case: Thermaltake Tsunami dream - black
    PSU: Thermaltake Silent PurePower 480W
Memory: 2 GB Corsair XMS 3200 DDR

Going to use from current system
Monitor: 19'' sony CRT (will upgrade to a LCD soon)
HDD: 80 GB WD and 200 GB Seagate Barracuda (both 7200, ATA 100) Might get a SATA drive to run OS, like a 250 GB WD or Seagate.

    Need:

    CPU: decided on a AMD 64 X2 4200+
MB: Looking at a couple of options, this is the hardest one to pick, im not too knowledgeable and it seems like they all have their problem areas. Ive been looking at mainly ASUS, ABIT, GB, or DFi. Got it down to:

GPU: Looking at a couple - Trying to stay under 200 and starting with one.

Will take suggestions if anyone has anything they think works better. The XFX card has a rebate and a free copy of ghost recon with it just for fun.

    Thanks

I'd go with the asus sli deluxe or if your into overclocking this dfi

There isnt any difference other than appearance between brands of video cards,if they have the same specs they will perform the same, the cooling solutions on more expensive brands offer more overclocking opportunity and the cores will often overclock higher,if your just gonna plug it in and use it stock I'd go with one of the cheaper brands like pny,the bundle can also sway which one you buy,if there are some games you like with one card get it,on that note ghost recon is poo :D

I would (did) go with the A8N-SLI Deluxe, and let me tell you.. I'm damn happy with it. As for the overclocking: I would say that your ability to overclock with the DFI is the same if not better with the asus motherboard. Not only are the overclocking options easy to understand and operate, but the motherboard has a "non-crashing" bios. Basically, if you do something wrong, your BIOS will save your computer from death. DFI does offer overclocking, but with personal experience: it's not as stable or as easy.

Best of luck (nice choice in processor BTW!)

Is this one the 32x or just the deluxe, cause ive heard some mixed reviews about the 32x?
