Planning on replacing an old HP. Indications are this one was used by Moses.
System is at stage it simply has chronic problems, so much so I hang out here more than any other site. At this rate MG is going to list me persona non grata just to allow someone else a chance too get help.

I am listing what I have below. Not sure it will mean anything helpful, but just in case...
We play some games, none of the high power needs one requiring sophisticated gaming systems.
I publish an in-house newsletter with MS Publisher and do a good amount of net surfing and emailing for researching.
I use Win 7, plan on going to Win 8 with new system. I use AT&T UVerse and wifi to my computer (one room to an adjacent one). My email is Thunderbird.
I would like to get some suggestions/ideas on what to look for and or get. I plan on getting a PC clone.
One primary factor I must adhere to is cost. I am retired Army on a quasi fixed income. So money is not an issue, it is the issue 'cause I ain't got any.
    My experience/skill level is moderate.

    How about something like this?

the only thing missing is the OS and DVD drive.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2008544

    Intel Core i5 4440 Haswell 3.1GHz Quad-Core CPU
    MSI B85 MOBO
    ZOTAC GTX 750 1GB
    HyperX Fury 8GB MEM,
    WD 1TB HDD
    Kingston V300 120GB SSD
    Rosewill 500W PSU
    DEEPCOOL Tesseract Case

    589.99

Will be quite speedy and can do some decent gaming (not super heavyweight though).

    Alternatives:

Whatever you choose, I advise 8GB + for ram and an SSD.

They require assembly, but its pretty straightforward.

If you want something built ( none of these have SSDs):

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9418469&CatId=2627 (Optiplex is a workstation model; less bloat, more reliable than consumer models, I'd choose this one for longetivity)
