New to Major Geeks

I have been having some trouble lately when starting up my laptop. It just seems to take forever to get booted up! I followed some advice from a friend who told me to goto a site and change some configuration settings to make my computer faster. It seemed a little faster at first but now I seem to have more issues everyday! I am using this laptop mainly to run CAD/CAM software. It is a dell Precision M6300. Can anyone help me to get this computer running better or at least point me in the right direction.

BTW, as for posting the same question in 2 different forums, well we've all done that at one time or another. The Admins here are good at moving posts to the correct forum so you can get the help you need quicker. However, if this should happen again, you will be fined $100,000, your car repossessed, and you will be put on administrative leave for 1 year!! See, we ARE really pretty easy to get along with here at MGs!!:-D
