I have another exciting toy on the way, but for now, this is my brand new Hi-Point 9mm carbine. It's outfitted with a tactical stalk option, and a BSA Red Dot Scope at the moment. It fires all 9mm ammunition, and I picked it up for well under what the website has it listed at. The gun was $229, plus fees.

While I had the open site on it, it was a lot of fun to shoot, kept a relatively tight pattern, and being that it's a pistol round, in a rifle body, recoil isn't really a problem at all (especially with the damper on the stalk butt). I haven't fired it with the red dot yet, but I'm thinking it's going to be a chore to get it on target. I've never used this type of optic before, and it seems like the light floats a lot. Practice makes perfect, I suppose.

I think I like it more than my AK-47, cheaper all around, and every bit as much fun to shoot. It's got rails all over the place. I'll add a flashlight and forward handle next. I don't know if I'll ever put a laser on it, but they're out there.

Looks nice. I just got back from Dick's SportingGoods, Bought over 500 rounds of ammo for my stock. 9mm, 38 special, 7.62x39, 30-30 and more. Saw some good deals on guns in there. A Benneli 12 gauge, 26 inch barrel, 3 and 1/2 chamber pump for $450.00. It looked like they were giving away guns at cost. Will have to wait till I go back to work next week to buy more guns. Regards to you; not_u.

New toys, eh Pax? CONGRATS!! :-D I never fooled around with a Red Dot Scope myself, but have heard good things about them. You can have a lot of fun shooting them, for sure, but always do safety first, and use ear protection!!!:LOL Man, that thing can do a number on your ears! Don't let it. ;) Safety first!! Have fun! ;)

I admit to knowing very little about guns, but that thing looks sexy! You should get more pictures! :)

Nice 'toy' Pax!! Once I get my new ride and finances straitened out, I am thinking about a new upper for my AR platform.

Looks like your basic AR, but shoots 330grain bullets. http://www.sbrammunition.com/sl45835.html :-D

What is the length of your gun, and how many rounds fit in the mag? You should take some better picts!

    Congrats.

I'll get some more pictures eventually. I took those with my cell phone, so they're not very good, I admit. I'm crazy busy lately. I leave for the office at 7 AM, and I don't come back to the house until after 10 PM on most days. My weekends are non-stop. I'm lucky to head to bed before 3 AM. I can't complain though, it's better than spending the evenings alone.

I bought a wide angle lens for my digital Canon, and I should have it this weekend. I haven't had a reason to use it since I've gotten back from Ocean City, MD almost a month ago, so I suppose I'll have to shoot some pictures of my carbine with it. See what angles I can come up with. It really is a good looking gun, thanks Mimsy.

I haven't been able to get the scope on target yet, but I went out for more ammunition last night, so we'll give it it a shot again tonight after work. I think I might have been using the scope incorrectly, so we'll see. With the open site, I was able to advance on a target (frozen gallon of water) and keep the bullets hitting. I'm sure when the scope is dialed in, it'll be even better.

Anyhow, I'll keep you posted on how things are going with it.

Oh, and here's a couple pictures from the beach, since I brought it up. I took them from my Facebook page, so they're not full size or anything. But you get the idea.

I found a nice looking Mauser 7X57, dated pre 1898 that I really want, but the truck is not doing well, the gun fund is at 0$. :cry

mmm... guns. Nothing says yummy like a post about guns.. or boobs.. or both :)

Not a huge fan of the AK, myself. Holding out and hoping for a price drop on the ACR. :)

Dang Kodo, that is one pricey gun. I would take a good AR upper and buy a couple of extra uppers in different calibers over that. Google did not give me much info, and I am tired. What caliber(s) is it offered in, and any particular advantage over the AR platform?

so far only 5.56. They are coming out with a .308 version as well.
    Benefits over AR platform?
    lets see:
    1. gas piston (though that's not a huge over on the AR since some manu's do this on their AR's)
    2. Modularity: you can swap out the barrels ,so you can swap calibers like 5.56x45, 7.62x51, 7.62x39, Grendel.
    3. Charging handle is forward of the bolt. No needed addon's like the Battery Assist devices.
    4. Ambidextrous
    5. multi-caliber bolt carrier to go with the barrel changes.
    6. of course they tout reliability over the standard AR platform.. but only time will tell on that one.

I will give you. But with the AR, you can swap barrels, and use the same carrier, just a different bolt.

But you know I love my EBG's, always great to see new stuff. :-D

The main flaw in the AR in my opinion is the location of the charging handle. Not intuitive like a regular gun. Especially if you add an optic.

They all good, in one way or another! :-D
