OK, so, I just had to buy it. I sold some AR bits and pieces, got $28 out of pocket expense in this one. Loving it so far, shoots well, is not magazine picky. Have not tried much ammo in it due to the current craziness. But I am liking this. Maybe Remington is back!

I have heard Kimber is not the best one to get. Loving this Remington so far. (And I have no personal experience with Kimber, good or bad. Just going on info from people that shoot more than I do.)

I will say the Kimber's look sweet in the magazine ads.

Oooh. Shiny...

How much did you spend on that beauty? I want one.

Gotta love a 1911.

And just because I want to see you waste lots of time, have you ever been to imfdb.org? It's about guns in movies, tv shows and video games. Very interesting.

Gunbroker had them for $648 free shipping a while back. After selling a few AR-15 items, I just paid $28 for mine.

I went to imfdb.org, but don't keep up with hollyweird stuff. And they get guns wrong almost always... Love it when they make a gun 'cocking' noise when the person is holding a Glock... :-D

Hoping to take this gun to Front Sight for a 4 day pistol class soon. Got my holster en route now.

You should meet some of my shooting friends. One guy shoots around 1k rounds a month, sometimes more. Last time we met in Texas, we were using the luggage rack for more guns than luggage.

I am hoping to take a tactical handgun and AR-15 class in Texas soon.

:-D

Nice videos Joffa. I took the series 80 junk out of my gun, much better trigger now. It is a nice looking gun, it caught my eye at the LGS, they only had 6 handguns in the store...

If any of you shoot one handed, it is much easier to me if I rotate my right hand about 10 degrees counter clockwise. (just a little, not 'gansta style'.0

I mostly shoot two handed but that's because if I shoot one handed I suck rolleyes
I get to shoot a Smith & Wesson .357 magnum model 686 revolver like this

http://

and I also get to shoot an M9 Beretta 9mm semi auto like this

http://

and for a plinker an old Ruger Mk III stainless .22 rimfire semi auto

http://

They belong to my friend and we often go down the range to kill some targets :-D

He just bought a Ruger .44 Magnum Redhawk with 6.5" barrel

http://

but he hasn't shot it yet as he is still waiting for the .44 casings and projectiles plus the new bits for his reloading press to arrive :(

Nice looking guns! I love the Ruger .22! Don't own one, but I keep my boss's guns here, so I can shoot it any time I want. I like the semi auto's, but the revolvers sure are classy looking. One of these days I plan on getting a 44 magnum or a 454 Casull. So many guns, so little $ and time. :-D

I am not very good at one handed shooting either. Practicing it cause you never know what might happen.

Hehehe if I had to hit someone shooting single handed then I wouldn't miss up to 50 metres but to get a decent target score now that's another thing ;) The guy I shoot with has been the Australian national champion in several disciplines with both pistol and rifle :cool
My son was junior national champion in Field Rifle 3P as well as Metallic Silhouette "off hand" to 600 Metres. My son used to shoot a Tikka T3 .22/250 with a big scope but now he is at university he can't spare the time to shoot enough comps to keep his centrefire gun licence but when he was a junior we flew all over the country to compete in the interstate comps. To keep a centrefire licence in Australia you basically have to shoot three comps every month but if we were living on a farm with animals then he would be exempt from the comps :confused
Don't get me started on the stupid gun laws over here which forced me to have to get several semi auto rifles and shotguns destroyed because the government made them illegal to own...... ever :mad

This is similar to the Tikka T3 except it had a Burris 6.5 - 20X 50 zoom scope

http://

It is a very nicely balanced gun but shoot off 300 rounds in an afternoon for a big comp and the shoulder does end up feeling a bit tender although 200 is not really a problem ......Hmmmm ... maybe I need to get to the gym a bit more LOL

Thanks Fred that looks much better than the modified shotgun pad we were using rolleyes
I think the shotgun pad was designed for a much slower shotgun type recoil and not the sudden and fast crack of the 22/250. Will investigate availability in Aus. but if not can order from USA :-D
Have you used one? How does it attach to the stock? I am thinking maybe it clips onto a plate that is screwed to the stock but not sure but will read a bit more tomorrow.:cool

Yeah ammo :( ..... we always try to reload as it is usually more consistent than cheap to mid priced practice ammo and definitely much cheaper ;)

You should try a few comps and you will be surprised how much of an inner battle of nerves it is to shoot as good in the comp as you do in practice. When you do shoot well then it is a wonderful feeling and if you get a medal, even better.
My son was lucky because he got some free coaching from two current Olympic shooters who fixed a couple of stance things before they became a future problem.
In comps you meet some great people although there are a few a$$ hats as well but most people in The Sporting Shooters Association Australia are quite helpful :):cool

Every time you post one of these, you make me jealous.:-D

I'd love to go to a shooting range but there are only a few in my area and you have to have a rather expensive membership to use it.

I just want to go somewhere and shoot something, is that too much for a girl to ask for? :-D:-D

If you are ever in my area, we have several ranges open to the public. Will take you. :-D

They make several types. Some are screw on for common guns (mainly shotguns, Remington 700..) and they make slip on pads in small medium and large. I love them. Use them on my shotgun, and high all my non semi auto high caliber rifles. Makes the surplus 7.62x54r and 8mm Mauser fired from a bolt action gun nice and soft.

Without the LimbSaver, I was hurting after 15 or so 7.62x54r rounds. I can sit and shoot over 150 and not feel a thing. Makes shooting the big rounds pleasant.

I NEED to get one before I shoot my 45/70 lever gun. :eek Kinda scared of that one, 325 grain bullets...

I'm gonna hold you to that! I have a close friend who has family in LA, who they visit at least once a year, and they are always asking me to come with them. I might just take them up on their offer :-D

Awesome! I am in the northeastern part of LA, but unless they are in the extreme south, it is not much of a drive to get around in LA.

If you can't get down here, check out this: http://www.nssf.org/FirstShots/Seminars/index.cfm

They do one at a local private range, and it is free, ammo and all is paid for. Not sure about the other ones.

Would be fun if you can get down here. We have an indoor range and a Parish outdoor range. The indoor one is more fun, but is louder, being inside. :-D

I'm not entirely sure where they are but I think it's New Orleans. I don't know if that's extreme south, geography was never my forte, :-D but it does sound like fun!

Grand Isle is extreme South.

I learned to drive on Hwy 90 and the Huey P Long Bridge in New Orleans.

When you go, don't let FredG convince you that Snipe Hunting will be fun. ;)

Well, you can go up north, or we can try to find a range south of me and north of you.

You have to think about this, almost every town has a range in the south. :-D

Ordered new grips for it. Can't quite hit the mag release without changing my strong hand grip. New grips should rectify that. Got to be able to hit the mag release on a semi auto gun... :cool

Found some ammo, shot it Sunday, very nice gun. Ammo was some cheap dirty Mexican stuff, had some failures to feed after 75 rounds or so. I blame the ammo on that, it was very nasty. Once the ammo/gun craziness dies down I will try it with better ammo.
