New updates/upgrade from HP

I got this thing that popped up on my 'puter from HP that was an 'update/upgrade'. After I gandered at it for a few days I decided to go ahead and do it.
When it was all done..... every time that I tried to get to Yahoo main page my Avast came up stating that there was a virus worm and that I should 'abort connection'.
What is up with all of this?
Did I mess something up like I usually do?
Has anyone seen anything like this from HP?

Seems like the issue in the thread started by N5638J. Bugged me for a while but then an Avast update sorted it out.

 

How and where do I find the Avast update to sort it out???
Help......it's getting ugly....ack!

 

Is this standard for HP that they do these auto updates? Just like Microsoft? I know that IBM has this service also - they even update ones BIOS. But not Dell. I hate to update drivers and everything myself - manually.

My next laptop must have auto update from the company. That's for sure!

I'd really like to know if HP runs this auto update service? Is it an extra payed for subscription or is it a standard service that comes with the HP product?

 

Right click on the Avast Icon in the tray, go to updating and update. Also check if auto update is on. Right click the Av Icon >> programme stettings >>basic update and select Auto. Cheers ........

 

Hp has an auto update. Well auto in the sense one has the run the updater "HP update"

 

And it works? You hit this icon and then everything comes right into your PC taylor-made for just your specific model/version/build of HP's computers? You don't have to find the driver updates and all else on their homepage? Only this one-two-three click and you're done?

 

PS: how much crapware does a HP PC come with? Dell fills ones PC with useless programs of their own making...

 

Don't have to go to their home page, a couple of click and you are good to go, tailor made for your machine.... Will inform you what updates are available pretty much like IBM update

I went to my Avast and updated everything and my problem has disappeared. POOF!
