I recently upgraded my vidcard from a GeForce ti4600 to a GeForce 6800 AGP. I installed my vidcard properly made sure the MB was clean of dust, seated properly and secure. I connect my monitor cable and turn on the power.

The computer turns on, but the monitor doesnt. So I went back to my old vidcard. The monitor turns on and all is fine.

    Couple of questions.

    1. Do my MB Bios/drivers need to be updated (could this be the possible cause?)

    2. Is this vidcard not compatable with my MB?

I have an older computer ~4 years. Its an Intel MB (if you could tell me how to give you the info on it, it'll come ASAP.) An p4 2.4, and 768 ram. Its kinda handmedown self upgraded comp.

Im not to computer savvy so any help would be GREATLY appriciated. Im trying to upgrade my comp for my gf who needs it for school and some comp programs and for some new comp games. I was told this is the site to come to for help so im hoping you guys live up to the hype ;).

    Thank you, Rob

I have a 6800 AGP in my computer, if it is similar, then you need to connect the 4 pin molex power connector to the video card itself. :)

Also, what wattage is your PSU (Power supply unit)?

Its a 350W what would be the minimum?

Ive also looked numerous times for a extra power outlet for it, to no avail. Mabey im just a lil slow, but idk.

Nope, ye, need to plug in a 4 pin molex connector into that card. Similar to the ones ye put into your hard drive and your cdrom drives. The card should have come with a Y-cable to allow ye to do this. :)

No problem. Just make sure that the cable ye use, is not the harddrive. Since the hdd, is constantly in use. Use a seperate cable, or use the cdrom cable.
