New video card for Dell 4550

The original video card is flaking out and I need to replace it.
No games but I do use it for movies from time to time.
The PC is a Dell 4550 with a Dell 1800 FP Monitor
Original card was a Radeon 9500 Pro/9700 Family wth 128Mb.

Will this be an OK replacement?

Need a little more info on your computer. Dell 4550 is not showing anything on Dell's site. Is it a Lattitude, Inspiron...? That card should be ok, but you might need a bigger power supply, and you need to make sure you have a PCIE slot. Your old card sounds like an AGP model.

The PC is a Dell Dimension 4550 - bought it in 2001.

The card you posted a link to is a PCI-express card, which is the standard nowadays. However, you said your computer has AGP controller, which means the card won't work in your system.

You need to buy an AGP graphics card. There are still some in the market, but they may be hard to get or relatively expensive.

Thinkning about all the other performance factors as well, it might be smarter to just buy a new computer.

Not a super gaming card, but would have you back up on the interweb and such untill you buy a new computer.
