New video card

replaced my geforce 3 ti200 with a geforce fx5700 256mg

my 3dmark score went from 900 to 2500

but now in the game i play, planetside, my FPS has dropped....

what is wrong with my new video card?? all the new drivers and directx 9.0c...

 

I've never tried that game, but does it automatically adjust graphics levels based on the video card like many games do? If so, maybe all the graphics are now set to "high". Just a thought. Sorry if you've already check this.

 

yeah, they are all on low =(

 

There might be a bios setting to change, but someone with more knowledge would have to help you with specifics. I have a Radeon.

before installing the new card did you completly remove all the drivers and reinstalled them?

 

how do you uninstall drivers?


i see uninstall nvidia drivers in add/remove, is that it?

what about directx?

or should i just reformat my hard drive?

 

first remove anything thats nvidia display driver from your add/remove (if you do have an nforce board becarefull not to remove nforce drivers) if not remove anything nvidia associated. once you reboot it should tell you it found new hardware and it will configure it and install provisional generic drivers. go download n install new drivers and check out your game; if you still have problems reinstall the OS/format.

 

reformatted my comp, a little better, but sometimes its still kinda bad

 

updated your mobo drivers + bios? what about fast writes are they on or off?

 

no i didnt update my mobo or bios and i dunno what that write stuff is
