New Vista Laptop throws off my modem/router~

I'm going to start off by saying that I'm not even sure Vista is the general problem, but I've narrowed it down, and Vista seems to be the most logical culprit.

I have Vista Home Premium 64-bit on a new Toshiba laptop that I just bought. (The full specs of the laptop can be found here.) And it worked just fine initially. I was able to connect it to my Comcast modem through my Linksys WRT110 router. Anyway, as time passed, the connection eventually became very unstable. It would start disconnecting randomly on and off every minute or so. (While being right next to my router.) So, I got on my Desktop (Which I'm using right now.) to look up a possible solution, and found that the internet on my Desktop (Which is connected by cables to my router.) was also dead. I reset my modem and reconnected with my Desktop. While on it, I tried to connect my Laptop to the router once again as well. It worked for a moment, but then kicked my connection entirely, which also kicked off my Desktop's connection.

I reset my modem once again in desperation to see if it was just a fluke, but the problem persisted. When my Laptop tries to connect to my router, I often get a "Connected With Limited Access" message. Then from there it usually disconnects again.

As a final resort, I ended up doing a system recovery on my Laptop to see if that would remedy the cause. It did for a little while, but then the problem came right back. (I bought the Laptop 2 days ago and haven't really done anything to it aside installing an antivirus.)

I had a Comcast Technician come out and check my cable wiring, he said that my signal strength was low, and adjusted that accordingly to raise it to a higher level. After he did that, I was able to connect to my router from my Laptop again, but only briefly, as the problem soon came back.

The reason that I say the issue is being caused by Vista is because my Laptop is the first computer I've ever had to run the Vista OS. My router and net are working fine right now, but only because my wireless on the Laptop is temporarily turned off. I can connect to my router using all of my Wi-Fi enabled consoles. (Zune, Wii, DS.) with perfect connectivity, and a Windows XP enabled Laptop has no problems connecting~ They all work as they should and do nothing whatsoever to disrupt my Modem and my Router.

If you need any additional details, just ask. I'll probably be working on this issue until I get it resolved.. But I'm so lost right now, I really need some input.

Thank you so much in advance~

Hi Ren.Aoyagi and welcome to MGs.

Here's a couple of things to try.

    1) Go into Device Manager and disable your ethernet connection. Start Orb > Type devmgmt.msc (May have to continue a UAC prompt) > Expand the + by Network Adapters > Right click the ethernet controller adapter and choose disable. (If you have 2 ethernet ports, disable both.)

    2) Do the instructions at this Intel Support Page - Change Power Mode Article.
