Christmas one step away...guess everyone will be up waiting on Santa's arrival:D

So who has what planned for New Year's Eve?

Friends and I have been heading off to different places for NYE's, early afternoon, to find a good picnic spot to settle down on a blanket, overlooking Sydney Harbour; and wait out the rest of the day with food and drinks, relaxing until nightfall, and then take in the fireworks.

Weather forecast not looking good for NYE (rain), so that's hanging in the balance where to celebrate, unless there's change. Will be keeping an eye on that right up to the day - else, it will be watching the fireworks on TV - which actually you can see a lot better and more of what's happening all around Sydney...and around the world too...so that's not bad...still a positive:cool:

Currently I have an infected foot and so won't be walking anywhere too far so we will be staying at home. I live high on the side of big hill in Gippsland and on a clear day the view from my backyard extends about 50km down to the coast and also I can see French Island in Westernport Bay. We will set up a couple of outdoor armchairs, a side table of nibbles each and a glass of cold sparkling shiraz in hand and will toast in the New Year with my wife and watch all the fireworks that people are setting off. It is not equal to the Sydney or Melbourne displays but it is still very nice to watch and there is no problems with crowds or finding somewhere to park the car. For us to go to Melbourne it is a 70km trip each way......... so now we just keep it local and celebrate with a few friends over a nice BBQ dinner and then later go up to the top of my yard (we have half an acre) :D
Here's hoping for nice weather and not smoking hot and humid weather.....if that's the case then we sit in front of the air con and watch New Year fireworks on the TV hehehehe.....as they say in the movies Plan "B":)

    Hey LS,

Christmas day will be with folks and my sister, husband and the 3 girls are coming in the AM, so that will be good.

As for NYE, tbh I have no plans and really just want a quietish time, so be food, wine and TV. Will watch the fireworks outside.

You have a safe and great holidays.

Hey LS. Good to see you. :) Your plan sounds lovely actually.

We are low key. This year we are having another couple over and are going to have dinner at home. I'd imagine they will be gone well before midnight for sure and hopefully we will be in bed. lol

Sounds a wonderful way to bring in the New Year! Well planned either way too. Cheers

Your NYE all sounds lovely. I miss family Christmas' - been years since last one. Now friends are family:)

NYE weather forecast is rain and more rain. Been there, done that in full rain gear in the past for an event...nothing like soggy ground that seeps into the base of the "four man" tent (that plan flopped:(). None of us are up to having a party at our place. Done that, singularly doing the prep work for house, food and a home made bowl of fruit punch with liquor (yum!) left me on an accelerated high, looking cross eyed by the time guests arrived...then having to play hostess - appeared like something out of a "Mad" magazine!

A friend sets up different events throughout the year, NYE being no exception. But I'm not up to going to her party this NYE - so it'll be me and my four-legged buddy watching the celebrations on the box, then on the phone around midnight.

I'm doing it like you this year...and will probably have a conference call with friends as the year seeps in.

It's been raining a lot, ongoing, and predicted more for NYE. So it'll be a celebration with my four-legged buddy this year and watching the year in, on TV - which would show more than I would see on foot anyway;)
