    Hi,

I just installed the new Win XP Pro SP 2 and need to install the JAVA because some web pages & programs won’t run without it.

Before MS used to include that in their OS but seems not anymore.

Can somebody please guide me as to what components etc. I need to install and where can I download it. Would you please give some guidance & URL for it ?

    Thank You Much.

    Kind Regards
    Mike

Use Sun Java, not MS. Go to www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Choose Manual Installation and download the file to your hard disk. Doubleclick to instal and reboot if requested.

Then go to Tools/Internet Options in Internet Explorer. Click the Advanced tab. Scroll down to the section called ‘Java (Sun)’ and make sure that all boxes in this section are checked. This will enable Java Sun.

Then go to the section called ‘Microsoft VM’ and remove all checks in boxes here. This disables MSJVM. (I don’t recommend removing it; disabling is sufficient.)

Click Apply, then OK. That’s it.
