    Hi

Because I know how to build a website and can install a printer I have been elected as the office geek :D … and I have a problem that I can’t get to the bottom of.

We recently had our server replaced and since that day, nothing but problems

We can ping all computers on the network so they are all there but some run so so so slowly, even taking up to 10 minutes simply to boot up and detect network settings.

I have tried to play with the TCP/IP connections, letting it detect itself and or manually configuring it. It makes things run better (either way) until the next time we boot up. Then we are back to basics and have to start over.

What I don’t understand is why folders on our own PC’s run so slowly. For example a colleague has just opened My Documents on his PC and this has taken so long to open he has gone to make a cup of tea. (3 minutes later & it is still not open.)

How do I resolve DNS? Do you think this might be the problem?

Does anyone have any bright ideas that they can share with a newbie geek that might stop everyone in the office bugging her all day? I would be so grateful.

    Jen
