Newbie : How to check what type of graphics card i need

Hi ,i currently have a on-board SiS 651c graphics card and i would like to buy a new graphics card BUT im not sure which i would need and how to find out which.
i would like to know how to find whch type i would need

depends on how much you like to spend, and what slots you`ve got free on your mainboard.
also what games do you want to play.. new games are heavy on older cards then say older ones like UT or halflife 1

ok i believe i need a agp card ( on my mobo got 3 white ones and one brown one )
it is currently a onboard one ( 16mb of ram LOL ), i have SiS 651c chipset and looking for around 50 pounds , i play / would like to play games such as everquest, guild wars and the likes
