hi there everyone im kad from uk. first of all i would like to say a big thankyou to majorgeeks ! whenevr i had a p.c problem major geeks had a softarew to sort it out thanks! ok then im 21 don't know much about computers but i know a little. i have a problem whenever i am on the internet surfing after 10 mins my computer freezes for 2 mins then goes back to normal then freezes for 2 mins then back to normal and so on so i opened the task manager finding that explorer.exe uses 99 cpu usage! so i end that task and started browsing with the ie (6) after 10mins same problem! so checked the task manger and iexplore.exe is using 99 cpu. ive got cc cleaner which iused, spybot search and destroy, avg antivirus and glary utlites but none seem to solve the problem? please help!:cry

 

could it be your ram?
how much do you have installed in your computer
if you dont know it does say in Ccleaner
and while ur checking out ur ram what are your computer specs

hi peeps my comp spec is a bit wack (dont laff) lol windows xp spec1, 2.66ghz, was told 256 ram but cccleaner said its 191 ram
ive had the pc for 6-7 years now recently got wireless broadband too around 6 months ago, i always take unessecary exe out from the task manager its just that the iexplore.exe and explorer.exe uses to much pc usage dont know why? is there any softwae tht will repair this i have a feeling its a virus that is not being found by my softarew that i regualry use

 

not sure about the explorer.exe but i have a simliar problem with iexplorer.exe and all i did was install an antivirus to make sure it wasent a virus and i just stoped using it i use Opera i find it better and faster on xp and you dont not have alot of ram at and could you also tell us what programs are starting up as mentioned by MarkTrent

and the rest like quicktime player, superantispyware,rcssheduler are disabled

 

how do i update my drivers and protect from security flaws?

 

hi mark ive done all that you said on the previous post ive updated the hardware and downloaded service pack 2 but i still have the explore.exe problem ive tried system restore again used all the software i have to clean viruses and spyware but it just seems to stay there taking up my comps usage?

 

i cant be sure but it seems you dont have an anti virus now this really could be irrelevant but still do you have an AV if you dont theres many frre ones that MG offers or others if you want to pay
