Nexus Root Toolkit

HI, I downloaded Nexus Root Toolkit. I am running windows 8.1 on my desktop. I recently purchased a Nexus 7 (2013) and want to back it up on my PC. I read that you can backup Nexus 7 using NRT without rooting or unlocking the bootloader. So when I try to run NRT on Windows 8.1 I get a message saying that Windows blocked NRT from running because it can possibly harm my computer. Is this true? Or can I run It anyway.

 

That's a security warning because the program's actions, while legitimate and above board, resemble the way some malware works. Windows is just double checking to insure you know what this program will do. It's not going to blow up your PC.

 

Is it right that I can backup and restore my Nexus 7 without rooting or unlocking the bootloader?

 

With adb backup.

You cannot do a full image backup though without rooting.

 

How do I make an adb backup using NRT without rooting my nexus 7 (2013)?

 

I don't use toolkits, but if you have adb setup, use adb backup from command line.
