Windows 7 computer - upon awakening from sleep, the wired connection takes about 15 - 20 seconds "identifying" the network connection and only then lets me use the internet. I use an Asus RT-N16 router here.

At another W7 computer at a different house, awaking from sleep I find the network connection is already present right away and doesn't need to refresh. Here, I use a Linksys WRT54GL.

I don't know if this is router related or not, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to make the 1st computer behave more like the 2nd computer.

    Any tips?

What are the PCs "doing" during the "sleep (low activity state)"? The same task?

First tip is I would "prefer" the 1st PC settings....after sleep it is doing a handshake (implying while PC was in sleep it was off the "network").

I did a reset on all network equipment involved and now the computer connection works as expected.

I guess this is one of those cases where a reset fixes the problem.
