This is a first for me besides Beaujolais. Nice French red for around $15.00. Heritages Cotes du Rhone Caves Des Papes.

Nice, some flower and cherry aromas, no barnyard or mushroom smell from it like some of the French stuff I have tried. This is a nice drinking wine, not up for a really spicy meal, but nice. A few steps up from the Beaujolais, nice stuff. :-D

Yummy. Got a few French wines here to try. 2008 harvest report is out, looks to end up being a decent year so far. I got hooked on a E&E Barossa Valley Black Pepper Shiraz. Store only had one, so had to auction a few more :) It hits like whiskey going down, a beautiful texture with some oak and maybe blackberry tastees. Spectacular. Sadly, it is well known how good it is, so prices are very high, i caught a break on winebid.com

    At
the same time, Rainier, now little more than a holding company for ... and the
Mondavis were faced with spending $20 million or more to replace ..... All nine
judges were respected French wine critics, sommeliers, and other oenophiles. .

Found another Barossa Valley called Exile. Yummy. Sadly, the Australian wines appear to be all downhill from droughts since 06, or so the word is. Bummer. Trying some California and other Shiraz, but just not the same to me.

Didn't you just put in a wine cellar rack, MA? Got it filled up yet?

Ours is gradually depleting. We need to stock up.

I did and have same problem. I went gung-ho filling it ands have not been wine shopping in a good month. Here a pic of whats left, however about 15 bottles that cost a bit more have been moved to a mini cooler to keep them at the correct temperature. I have lost 3 bottles to being spoiled (not my fault) so I want to protect the others which I save for family and friends.

Yeah, we definitely need to head to the wine store. Our prob is that we have the more expensive bottles left and end up just drinking them.

You had bottles spoil? Wow. Is your rack down in your basement? That's where ours is and while it's probably not a totally ideal atmosphere, we haven't had any problems so far.

Ah. That happened to my parents. Bought this basket of wine at a charity auction. It had some really expensive bottles in it. I think 3/4 of it was basically vinegar. I've never gotten wine that way. I'm thinking I'll stick to store bought. ;)

I may head over to the wine store today. I live in PA though, so we're state run. I'll see if they have the Barossa Valley Shiraz and grab a bottle to try if they have it.

Well, sadly there were no Barossa Valley wines that were older than 2006. :(
