Ok, so my laptop has been working fine, up till yesterday.

    Info:

    HP Model G60 Notebook PC

    Windows 7 Home Premium

    64-bit OS

    Avast antivirus

Today, all of a sudden it would not connect to the internet on my wireless network. It says:

Currently Connected to: Unidentified network No internet access

I restarted the pc, and noticed two pop ups that displayed errors of services that stopped working. The pop ups came and went fast though, so it was hard to see which services it was that it was displaying.

I tried to start HP wireless assistant, and the same thing happened, the pop up came up saying it stopped working and then it closed on it's own fast.

I opened Reliability Monitor, and sure enough it displayed the errors in "critical events"

    It says:

    GFXUI stopped working

HP Wireless Assistant Main Program stopped working

HP Health Check Service stopped working

I guess the last thing I did was update windows, but I did a system restore just in case that was the issue, and the same problem persists. I tried updating the wifi driver, same issue. BIOS, same issue. I even plugged the Ethernet cord from the modem directly into the laptop bypassing the router.

And my internet connection is fine btw as I have my xp pc connected to it as well as other wireless devices.

What would cause these services to stop working? If I can figure that out, maybe I can fix the network issue.

Maybe we should check the update history

Go to Windows Update (press Start, type in Windows Update and hit enter)

    Click on View update history

Take a screenshot using the Snipping Tool (already installed), and upload it here. Probably only need the last 5-10 entries in the history log.

I just took a screenshot of the update history instead.

Also, I checked to see if maybe it was a system file that might be corrupted with system file checker tool and included the log.

Eh a lot of slight errors...nothing major in the CBS log.

    Please renew your IP address:

Please press Start, type in CMD, hit enter...

Type these line by line, one at a time and hit enter:

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew

Then, let me know if the network comes back on.

Did you try using the troubleshooter? (Right-click on Network Icon and select Troubleshoot)

I believe the GFXUI refers to the Intel graphics driver. Can you try updating that either from HP support or Intel support.
You can also try reloading the HP Wireless Assistant. Download from HP, transfer and reload after uninstalling the present copy from Programs.
I would not worry about the Health Check Service as it's probably a waste of space and resources.

Have you tried letting Windows control the wireless connection rather than the HP application? See if that gets you connected.
