Nintendo DS, USB Wifi connector and a Linksys Router

Because I lack a wireless connection at home I've been attempting to connect through one of Nintendo's USB Wifi connectors to my Comcast cable connection on a Windows XP system. Unfortunately the DS can't seem to find my IP address through my Linksys router (Model BEFSR41 V3). Beyond following instructions to allow my DS access through the USB connector's user manager there is not really much else explained in the official site about connectivity problems regarding the USB connector. I can only guess as to what the problem could be and this is why I am assuming it must be the router, please correct me if I am wrong. Any tips on how I can allow access to my DS would be much appreciated, the settings in the router's setup are factory defaults and nothing has been changed. If I've left out any crucial information then let me know.

Yes, the USB connector itself is fully installed and functional, it has gone as far as to prompt me for access. After I grant access to the device it will set about searching for my IP address, at which point it returns with an error message that it cannot find the IP address.

 

What is the ip of the router? 192.168.x.x? Listyed as Gateway..
Start > Run > CMD <ok> type ipconfig <enter>
I know most Linksys I have used are set 192.168.1.1....
What is the version number of the DS software?
Any firewalls running?
