Here's an interesting one for you, chipped Wii stopped working, had a disc stuck in it. Took it apart and removed the disc, then drive no longer eats any disc on trying to insert it.

I then REPLACED THE DRIVE with a brand new one and still have the same problem! What is going on? Cheers

Two possibilities: The new drive may be defective, or it could be the wrong model (not sure about Wii, but both XBox and PS3 have multiple drive models based on the series and serial # - they are not interchangeable).

Since the Wii U was introduced, regular Wiis have dropped in price to as low as $99. You might be better off just replacing the whole unit.

    Hope this helps. :)

thanks, the one I bought is a D4, fwiw the seller said it will fit any Wii console currently on the market, and is clearly a reputable ebay power seller.

I saw on one site that chipped boxes may have problems with the chip messing up the other circuitry on the board. Maybe this could be it but is just seems weird when it seems it should be an obviously drive-related issue.
