Elsewhere in MG ads appear. I've checked everything thing, every setting, and have all the latest Flash etc. The home page ads stopped displaying after installing IE7.

that would be IE7's add blocker (pop ups) causing this.

Check the browsers add-on manager to configure for your required settings
What's new is that the manager allows you to enable and disable these add-ons, and it's also possible to start IE7 in "No Add-ons" mode.

    Regards...

Thanks, but its not the pop up blocker. On or off, the ads don't appear. No problem with ad content on other websites. Nor do I see any ability in manage add ons to do anything other than enable/disable or delete activeX controls. Also see my other post about QuickTime Object and RealPlayer G2 Control.

    MG advertisements fail to display...

...on the main page header and right border. Anyone else lost theirs? Maybe a coincidence but they vanished after installing IE7. I find nothing wrong anywhere.

Yes I have just installed IE7 and have noticed this, I really dont mind much but is there a setting that allows you to see them again?

FYI, the ads no longer show up for me either since BEFORE my IE7 installation. They also do not show up in Firefox or AM Browser...could just be MGs. They DO show up on the MajorGeeks Support Forums page.

Okay Toni... MG can fix it I'm sure. I'm thinking some users are affected, others aren't. Or maybe it's just down time til the next ads come.

MG home page ads need fixing

They stopped appearing with IE7...sitting here at my work pc with IE6 they show as always. I understand others have lost the main page ads, before and after IE7.

Good luck with it. I've checked every possible setting including internet zone security...can't find anything amiss or that would affect the display.

One thread on this would have sufficed opposed to one a day over the past three days!

But it looks as if something wether it be IE7s new popup blocker security settings or SpywareBlaster, Spybot S&D that add known advertising and malware sites to the blocker URL/Cookie lists in IE seen to have added Tribalfusion to the Restricted Sites list in IE ( I dont thing the cause was Spywareblaster or Spybot *altho I dont use Spybot* as Spywareblasters blocked list didnt affect IE6 )

I installed IE7 in XP and gained the same missing Adverts, traced the possible culprit down to IEs Restricted Sites list, once I removed Tribalfusion from the list all the ADs now show.

    Instructions:
The workaround if you dont mind tribalfusion adverts is to goto in IE7 Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab > Click the Restricted Sites Icon > Click Sites and scroll down until you locate *.tribalfusion.com > highlight it and click Remove > Apply

Then Refresh and the page will show ok at Tribalfusion and the main advert on the Majorgeeks front page :)

Issue resolved! Per Halo's post and recommendation, ads reappeared after removing tribalfusion.com from restricted sites security zone. Thanks Halo for the timely tip.

    No problems :)

Actually you could help me too, as I never had this issue with IE6 and the only app I know on my PC in Spywareblaster which adds known bad urls to the blocked site lists, do you have Spywareblaster or Spybot S&D installed?

or I wonder if this came with the latest Spywareblaster update, but I would have thought this would have affected IE6.

I have both. I was just gonna go check them for similar restrictions on sites I like or trust. Will post anything noteworthy afterwards.

All clear in Spybot for tribalfusion.com...no listing. However, SpywareBlaster showed an unchecked highlighted red entry for tribalfusion. I'm thinking that removing it from IE restriction allowed SpywareBlaster to 'uncheck' it for blocking. Plus I had just gotten the latest SpywareBlaster update in the last few days. I can't recall which I did first though, update SpywareBlaster or install IE7. Interesting, but I'm back in control. It pays to look deep in your spyware apps so you can stay on top of changes or have some idea where to look when issues arise.
