I recently bought an Acer Apire R1600 with XP. Originally, I hooked it up via HDMI to my tv. All was well for video and sound.

I needed to take it off of my tv with HDMI and put it onto a standard VGA monitor. The video is fine, but the audio is not working. No Audio device is found within the Control Panels Sound section. I already tried to reinstall from the recovery disk and also restored the factory settings. No luck.

Oh, I'm tryinig to use the build in speakers on my Philips monitor. The only connection they provide is a headphone jack (green cable) that I can plug into my monitor.

    Please advise.
