I have been having this problem for a few days now. Don't know exactly when or why it happened. I also inadvertently deleated my "Composite Bus Enumerator". Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Greetings, golfman8, and welcome to MajorGeeks...

What's the make and exact model # of your computer? If it's a Dell please include the Service Tag number.

Also, have you tried rolling back to a previous Restore Point in case this was caused by a program or Windows update?

***By the way - I'm right up the road from you, a few miles northwest of Myrtle Beach. ;)

Thanks for responding quickly. It is a computer I built from parts bought from Newegg. It has a GA-MA74GM-S2 motherboard w/ Radeon HD5770 Video Card & AMD Athlon II X4 620 Propus 2.6GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-core processor.

All previous back-up points prior to 1/18 were erased, for some reason.

Try this: assuming that you are using onboard audio navigate to this Gigabyte page, plug in your operating system (Win 7 64-bit), then download and install the AMD chipset driver and the Realtek function driver (in that order and reboot after each installation).

    Good morning...

There should be an .exe or Setup file for each of those packages. Run the chipset setup, reboot, run the audio setup, reboot.

    Caliban,
I found the setup files for both downloads and I ran the motherboard download first and rebooted, then ran the realtek download and rebooted but am still getting the "No audio output device is installed". What next?
    Thanks for your help.

I lived in Myrtle Beach for 4 years before moving to Charleston.

    Hi

In device manager do you have any yellow ! marks and if so by what devices?

But what I would try is the below.....

Open Control Panel and click Hardware and Sound, then in Device Manager and find Sound, Video and Game Controller option and right click it and choose Scan for Hardware Changes and see if that after a re-boot fixes your audio.

    David,
Thanks so much for responding. I am running Windows 7 and I do not have "Hardware and Sound" in Control Panel. I do have "Sound" and when I open that it says, "No audio devices re installed". Then when I open "Device Manager", I have nothing that says, "Sound, Video and Game Controller" I click "System devices" and I have Two "High Definition Audion Controller icon's. Both of these have the "Yellow Explanition Point" with them. When I right click these and under the Properties it says "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unkown source. (Code 52).
I have my Gigabyte and Saphire install disk and my windows 7 repair disk but for some odd reason, neither of my DVD/CD drives will read or write. (This just happened also)
I really need some help on this.
    Thanks.

    Hi

Seems as if some drivers and more so the Chipset driver maybe missing or corrupt, so lets try and resolve this without the need for a new clean Windows 7 install.

So start off with installing this Chipset driver HERE and reboot (reboot is crucial step so do not skip as it allows Windows to pick up the new devices such as audio)

Then install the audio driver HERE and reboot and then test sound and check Device manager for any more yellow ! marks and if you have any let us know what device they are next too and we can try and fix that issue also.

See if this helps and let us know any error messages if you get any during the driver installs.

    David,
I tried to download just like you said but my computer, when the 7zip came up it extracted the files to C:/Users/Jim/downloads. I see that it is a .dat file but do not know where to put it. (no pun intended). Also I still have the yellow ! at the two High Definition Audion Controller Icon's.

    Hi

7zip maybe corrupting the files as they both are .exe's for me, so disable or not use 7zip to extract the files, and then try. Just download and run them.

Yeah the yellow ! mark in audio is helpful to know so thanks for the info.
