No sound or anything coming out.
I have windows XP with HP Pavilion, or the screen is HP L1520.

I tried everything! I read many many threads on this forum, but couldnt find any help!

What Do I need to tell you guys, and how do I find it?
    It says "No Audio Device"

It will be good if anyone can AIM me: iLoveKosherGirls
    or post here.
    Thank you VERY VERY Much!

[I need the volume badly as you can tell :) ]

Check that Windows Audio Service is started.
    Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
Scroll down the list of services until you find the Windows Audio service.
Right click on it and choose Properties.
Make sure it is set to Automatic and Start is checked.
Check: Device Manager for bad drivers.
For XP: Go to Start>Control Panel> System. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager, then click the plus sign in front of Sound, Video, Game Controllers.
For Vista: Go to Start>Control Panel>Device Manager
In Device Manager, if there is a ? in front of your audio device, that means no audio driver is installed.
A ! means driver installation attempted but with problems.

Post a make and model # if your PC is manufactured (Dell, Gateway, HP, etc.) or your motherboard ID, if it is a build. Or even better:
Use Everest to get a report of your system’s hardware, OS, and drivers. Upload the report as an attachment
    Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
When Everest is done scanning, click "Report" at the top of the Everest window, click next to get to "Report Profile", select "Hardware related pages", click next, select "Plain Text", click "Finish". Then when it is done processing, click "Save To File". Save it where you want to. (I would use Desktop.)
Click "Go Advanced" in the MG reply box, scroll down a little way until you see "Manage Attachments", click it, browse to your file, click "Upload", and close the window. Then submit the post. You may have to also type something in the reply box, like, "Here's my report.", so that it will submit.

    Please answer these questions.
Is your Windows Audio Service turned on?
Were there any alerts in Device Manager? What were they?
When did your sound problem start? After an install of a new app? Malware? Reinstall of OS?
What is the model # of your HP?

Using your motherboard info, I found what your driver should be, but it's not listed at HP and I would rather supply you with the HP driver, if possible.
This is what HP says your sound is: Crystal CS4299 from Cirrus Logic

The problem is all the driver downloads I am finding for that are all pre-XP.

make sure your speakers are pluged in
goto control panel>add hardeware then see if your speakers are in there if there not then you have a seriouse problem

or if windows has been updated you might want to update your speakers driver you can do this by control panel> sound> find your speakerss and go to properties tab and clcik on update driver and update it manually

if none of that worked then i would seriously consider getting new speakers :\

    @ Gabriel47
Here is the same driver joelsz put up, but a couple of links further.
    MB091ADD.zip
You will have to regiister at DriverGuide and then get past a bunch of ads before you can get to the driver.
I downloaded it and it looks like a full package (DriverGuide has a tendency to put up incomplete packages or the wrong driver)

Thanks, joelsz... Didn't think of looking there. That site is lost in my bookmarks. LOL

I don't understand what you downloaded.
This link ( MB091ADD.zip ) should take you to the first thumbnail page.
Chose the option to view ads, skip through all the ads (about 10), and you get to the download page. (2nd thumbnail)
Download the file, extract it, and double click the setup.exe file.

AvRack is a media player that comes bundled with some Realtek drivers.
Your sound card is a Cirrus Logic model, not Realtek.
    ???

OK, let's go on the assumption that this isn't another Driver Guide screw up. Your driver does use the Realtek 'AC97 chip,
You can uninstall AvRack, if you want.
We need to look in Device Manager to see if anything changed with your audio.

Does Sigmatel show up there? Is it installed OK? (No ? or !)
Does it show up in Control Panel>Sounds and Audio under the Sound tab, Default audio?

You never answered these questions either.
We need you to let us know what is happening or what you see and we need answers or we can't help.

Nothing was installed to cause this .. It just happened

What is the model # of your HP?

    Do you happen
to have any discs that may have been with your PC?

Your driver is pretty much an extinct one. The only hope I have is to find it is at HP.
They too, may no longer support it.
I have looked for this driver before and I believe in the end the only solution was a sound card.

The number seems to come up as a hard drive?
Is there a number on the front, near the bottom?

  22. Gabriel47

Noo that number was on the side on the bottom.

If you really want sound badly, I suggest you buy a cheap add-on sound card.
I don't think we will find your driver anywhere, unless you try contacting HP and let them know you need it.
Here is a link with an 1-800 number and also a link to chat live with an HP tech:

    Aw man this sucks.
I just make music on this computer, and I cant afford any drivers.
This really sucks. I thought it was gonna be fixed.

You shouldn't have to pay for a sound card, if HP still has the driver in their archives.
