Everything was in working order last night. However, when I turned on my Laptop today, the audio device quit working. I've tried to fix it, but I haven't had any luck.

Without knowing what you have tried... what about restoring, booting in safe mode, booting to last known good configuration.
Check your drivers in Device Manager and see if there are any red or yellow '!'s or '?'s.
Go to your Sounds and Audio Devices under Control Panel (for XP - what OS are you using?) and check the settings there. Make sure especially that nothing is muted.
Remove all peripherals. Remove battery and unplug, press 'on' button for 30 seconds, then try again.

SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec. It has a yellow exclamation on it.

The speaker icon in my taskbar has a red X on it. Windows troubleshoots it, and says the device driver is corrupted or missing. I've tried 'repairing' the driver, and it says it fails to install correctly. I uninstalled it, removed everything, and tried reinstalling it, and it said it failed to install correctly.

I just removed the battery, charger and stuff, and help the power button. Same thing is happening.

    Hello,
You might want to try going to the Microsoft Update Catalog (works in IE only) and doing a search for SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC. The file is about 980KB. Download the zip file. Unzip to a folder then go to device manager, right click the device and update driver. Point it to the inf file in the folder you created. You can also see if a driver is available under Windows Update in optional updates.
