no audio on tv

hi, looking for help with an audio problem that someone will definitely know how to resolve. i am a complete novice with computers so please accept my apologies!!!:-o
i am trying to play CD's thru my laptop and view on my TV, trouble is although i can see the content of my CD i cannot hear it. i am transferring thru a VGA cable.
can anyone tell me, do i need an audio cable to transfer the audio or can anyone advise what i need to do

Yes, VGA is video only, you'll need a 1/8' plug to 2 RCA plugs (white & yellow) to get audio out to the TV. If you have Radio Shack near by your in luck.

plug the 1/8' into the headset or out jack and into the TV audio - white & yellow.
