    Can someone please help me. After recording from a USB capture device
    (using windows movie maker) from TV there was no audio in the recording although the video is there. I could hear the sound from the speaker when doing
    the recording. If you can suggest other software let me know to try. My
    OS. XP Pro. SP3. Thanks.

    Does it look like this?

    If so, you can grab the manual here http://www.dlink.com/us/en/support/product/dsb-v100-usb-video-capture-device
    look for page 21 to see how to connect. You must connect something to the sound card of your computer.

    Note: Start the device you are recording from and begin the
    capture. The sound is not audible until you play it back
    using VideoStudio.

    The fact that you heard audio while you were capturing the video, tells us you did not have something hooked up to your sound card.

    Thank you plodr for the information. I did have the driver installed (same driver as you have mentioned ). I was not having this problem previously with the same device although it was in another computer. (IDE now with a SATA motherboard). My internal sound chip is not OK now using PCI sound card. I intend to use windows movie maker for recording because of the output size is small and later to convert to other. One thing I just happen to notice in volume control 'pc speaker' the balance slide cannot be move and if you mute it you still can hear the audio when recording. Well I hope with the extra things which I just happen to notice can help.
