No Auto Run

Hi Everyone,
On my Dvd drive and cd-rw drive when I intsert a software disk I have to manuly turn the drives on but when I insert a music disk it atoumaticly starts up using "window media player" or "realplayer 1". Any help would be appreciated.

be prepared to edit the registry, but it reset all of my drives for autorun...

I went to the:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutoRun

key and switched the value to 95 and it worked just fine!!

I tried it and my drves worked,but afterwords my computor would not shout down. I reset the value and tried shuting down twice ,no good. I restored to a few hours ago and the system is back to the way it was. Could this mean that I may have to edit along with this different parts of my registery ?

You could try to use the TweakUI for configuring autorun (Will change the same registry keys I believe)

When I did tech support for creative labs, this was what we said:
"Well, thats weird. If rebooting didn't fix it, then I suggest a format and reinstall. "

Worked every time!

 

Spent the last half hour fidgeting with the damned thing. The key exeter_acres mentioned is correct, only the value should be 00 00 00 00 (bin). This enables autorun for all drives (A to Z). I also have the "CDRAutoRun key (bin) which I couldn't get to respond. It's 98se though.
If you want to disable again, the value is ff 00 00 00 which works fine (here).

 

Hey it works now! Thanks everyone . I changed it to 00 00 00 00 and it shut down by itself. When I restarted it froze . had to manualy shut it down and run scan disc..Looks good now .
