No Backups

My external drive is accessible to show and access its files. But both the computer settings page and the control panel say it is disconnected and it does not run backups. What to do? Thanks!

What program are you trying to use to run backups?
I can probably guide you best if you use file history.

 

Thanks for your response. I am not computer savvy so I don't quite understand your question. I don't have a special program for backups. I just have on the Control Panel the backup setup which I use.

 

When you click on the start menu and then type backup and press enter in Windows 10, it brings you to a start that says Backup at the top. A little bit underneath that it says "backup using file history."
when you go through those steps, does that page that you get to look like the tool that you were using for backing up?

What model of hard drive is it that you are/ were using for these backups?

 

Thanks for your response. When I did what you advised, I received the screen a shot of which is attached. My external hardrive is Seagate Expansion Drive SRDOOF2.
