no blinking cursor in windows

i just reinstalled WIndows and now when I am browsing on-line I don't get a blinking cursor in the field where I type in something.. for example, when I come to this site to sign in my name I click on the box to typ in my name, there is no blinking cursor anymore.. it just stays blank. Another example I go to type in a web address at the top if IE and I get no blinking cursor in the box.. know what I mean?? anybody know how to fix this?

 

Check under the Control Panel in the Keyboard applet. Make sure the cursor blink rate isn't set to "none". Don't know why it would be set like that as default or whatever... what version of windows?

 

thanks.. I have XP Pro everything is updated from windows site.. I checked the mouse and keyboard in control panel everything is normal.. don't know what the deal is ???

 

Ummm... I'm not sure... I'm reaching here, but maybe check to see if any Accessibility options have been enabled? You know.. those handicapped options? Sorry I can't help more.

Oh.. BTW... I meant to ask you... do you see the cursor at all? I know it's not blinking... but is it there? Might have something to do with the keyboard drivers, since you've reinstalled. Should have a default driver though. Again... I'm reaching out there for some kind of solution.

 

what do you mean by accessibility option? no I don't see the cursor at all... thanks again for the help

 

You may not even have them installed... shows how much I pay attention to the mundane details If you have it, Accessibility should be listed in the control panel. Handicap icon.

edit You'll be looking for the exact same thing you looked for under "Keyboard" in the control panel, except under Accessibility. There's a blink rate setting in Accessibility too... just a thought.
